With new year on the rise, our phones have been flooding with calls and messages from family and friends with new year wishes. In all of them, one pattern has been common - fresh starts, hope for better things to happen, and learnings from the bitterness caused by the previous year(s). As a result, all of us start translating these into a never ending list of new year resolutions. No offense to the well wishes cause they are delivered with best intentions neither to profess to the resolutions. Just that it makes me tinker, why do we resort to a new year, new decade, new millennium to aspire for the things we want in life. If motivation is something we are seeking, it can be achieved even having a simple conversation with a friend. You get what you seek no matter when. And not that the new year will yield results cause of the charm of that year. Your past years’ efforts has led to its fruition. So I strongly believe, it could be just a matter of seconds to take the plunge, set your heart on something and strive for your goal. A new beginning to something does not necessarily have to be in the name of new year. As it is rightly said, it’s never too late to achieve anything. I would like to express the gist poetically:
Oh it’s the time of the year, I am all over the place,
The scatter brain inside me wishes for the things no scarce!
Food and books and knowledge are on the priority,
But then I also want to binge watch on the movies which will just increase this parity.
I keep on straddling all year round,
And then I articulate the same interest in a new way found!
Resolutions and wishes make me a bit superstitious,
I start clinging on to them by being hard on myself!
Trying, faltering and hoping is the normal human cycle,
If that’s the case why have it just within a range of an annual!
I’d say, keep at it and rather have the attitude of being perennial,
In your dreams and efforts; as it could be Just as inevitable as night and day, for the the new beginnings to be real!
Be perky, be insatiable in your goals,
And suddenly the newness of something will be relatable!
Last but not the least,
Happy new year OR whatever...!

On a side note, I was inspired with this ideology by two things:
1. Satya Nadella’s Hit Refresh book
2. A character named Leslie Knope of a sitcom - ‘Parks and recreation’
Needless to say, it's just an opinion. Would like to know your take on this :)
