Happy New Year or Whatever!! :)

With new year on the rise, our phones have been flooding with calls and messages from family and friends with new year wishes. In all of them, one pattern has been common - fresh starts, hope for better things to happen, and learnings from the bitterness caused by the previous year(s). As a result, all of us start translating these into a never ending list of new year resolutions. No offense to the well wishes cause they are delivered with best intentions neither to profess to the resolutions. Just that it makes me tinker, why do we resort to a new year, new decade, new millennium to aspire for the things we want in life. If motivation is something we are seeking, it can be achieved even having a simple conversation with a friend. You get what you seek no matter when. And not that the new year will yield results cause of the charm of that year. Your past years’ efforts has led to its fruition. So I strongly believe, it could be just a matter of seconds to take the plunge, set your heart on something and strive for your goal. A new beginning to something does not necessarily have to be in the name of new year. As it is rightly said, it’s never too late to achieve anything. I would like to express the gist poetically:

Oh it’s the time of the year, I am all over the place,
The scatter brain inside me wishes for the things no scarce!

Food and books and knowledge are on the priority,
But then I also want to binge watch on the movies which will just increase this parity.

I keep on straddling all year round,
And then I articulate the same interest in a new way found!

Resolutions and wishes make me a bit superstitious,
I start clinging on to them by being hard on myself!

Trying, faltering and hoping is the normal human cycle,
If that’s the case why have it just within a range of an annual!

I’d say, keep at it and rather have the attitude of being perennial,
In your dreams and efforts; as it could be Just as inevitable as night and day, for the the new beginnings to be real!

Be perky, be insatiable in your goals,
And suddenly the newness of something will be relatable!

Last but not the least,
Happy new year OR whatever...!

On a side note, I was inspired with this ideology by two things:
1. Satya Nadella’s Hit Refresh book
2. A character named Leslie Knope of a sitcom - ‘Parks and recreation’

Needless to say, it's just an opinion. Would like to know your take on this :)

Hitting the Rock Bottom!!

Often there comes a phase in everyone's life when things flip out the way you had never thought of. Events change dramatically with you having no control of them. The events that partake can be in terms of relationships, money, career, domestic problems and many more. Initially, you despise the happenings around you and start playing the blame game. In relationships, you crib about the person who could not understand you. In money matters, you despise the system, the global turmoil that does not turn in favor of you. In terms of career, you contempt the enterprises who are not extracting your potential and the cycle goes on. As a human, you do not settle on anything but, criticizing. You do not take the ownership and analyze the circumstances that lead to such consequences. Until you hit the rock bottom. The point where you are at the lowest of your times. Only after then, you gain newer perspectives. You define yourself and try to work on fixing the problems.

I have tried to capture the essence of above in following piece of poetry.

Hitting the Rock Bottom!!

A bright sunny day, wind in her hair, smile on her face,
To reach out new avenues, and grab the current pace!

Sailing was she in the waters azure,
With plethora of ambitions to endure!

Albeit vision less, she thought of making a move,
Without knowing the deep water truths!

Boy - O - Boy! She kept sailing away from the beach,
Humongous water and harsh rocks was the only thing she could now reach!

And then the wind changed its directions,
She got blinded by the rough sea motions,
Alas, her boat capsized along with her pumped up emotions!

She confronted a situation solemn,
When she hit the rock bottom!

She could not seep in this trauma,
Until she hit the rock bottom!

Only then she realized ways to fight back and sustain,
Which over the years, she had refrained!

With same vigor she is holding the breath,
In a hope she will soon cling on to the edge!

And this time,

A bright sunny day, wind in her hair, smile on her face,
She envisions the horizon and advances in her own pace!

I think, unless you reach into the abyss of depression, you never imbibe different perspectives and think optimistically. As only then you realize, that the only way to overcome this fathom is the way UP!  Thus, hit that rock bottom boldly! :)

Of course, this is just my point of view. I look forward to hear your experiences and take on this. :)
